The Story
In December 1940, an eastbound cross-country train carries the bodies of great American writers F. Scott Fitzgerald and Nathanael West and, by a twist of fate, forces two strangers to share a seat.
May is a straight-laced, deeply religious young woman returning home from a disappointing trip. Raleigh is a charming, aspiring writer recently discharged from the military due to a medical condition. As the train rolls onward, they discover they grow up just miles apart in rural Kentucky. Over the next three years, through chance encounters, shifting dreams, and the looming shadow of World War II, this "boy-meets-girl" story takes beautiful, unexpected detours as May and Raleigh search for happiness and what their hearts truly desire.
